Today our focus will be on:

  2. How to conjugate verbs into the te-forms. ---------たべて,  のんで
  3.  How to use the te-form to make polite requests (".....please").  ----たべてください、  のんでください
  4.  Kanji:   東、西、南、北、口

Lecture 1

Grammarぶんぽう１  て／で- form    p. 150, 151

るーverbs：Drop the る and add て

Example 食べる➔食べて、見る➔見て、

 Uーverbs：

① U-verbs that end withう, つ, andる　→　って

Example あう➔あって、まつ➔まって、とる➔とって

 

② U-verbs that end withむ, ぶ, andぬ　→　んで

Example よむ➔よんで、あそぶ➔あそんで、しぬ➔しんで  

     

③ U-verbs that end with く  →　いて

Example  かく➔かいて、きく➔きいて

　 行くis an important exception.行く➔行って

 

④ U-verbs that end withぐ →　いで

Example およぐ➔およいで

 

 ⑤ U-verbs that end withす　→　して

Example はなす➔はなして    

 Irregular verbs:

Example くる➔きて、する➔して、べんきょうする➔べんきょうして

  Chapter ８ Introduction and Outcomes Welcome to Chapter 8!  Introduction First, I would like to  introduce you to a new paradigm of conjugation called the “Short Forms"  Our focus will be on: Verb Short Forms (present tense), affirmative and negative.（食べる→食べない；よむ→よまない；くる→こない；する→しない） Adjectives and noun Short Forms (present tense), affirmative and negative. （かわいい→かわいくない；しずかだ→しずかじゃない；学生だ→学生じゃない） How to use Short Forms to make : casual conversations.
