Chapter 6 Introduction and Outcomes
Welcome to Chapter 6!
Introduction
First of all, I would like to introduce you to a new verb conjugation called the “te -form.” Te-forms are a very important part of Japanese grammar.
Our focus will be on :
- How to conjugate the verbs into “te-forms”------たべて、よんで
- How to use the “te-form” to create various expressions in Japanese culturally appropriate manner.
For example:
- ”Please do…..” ~て/でください
- “May I ….?; “ “You may …” ~て/でもいいです
- “ You must not…” ~て/ではいけません
- “ I am doing…” ~て/でいます
- "I do this" and "I do that" ~て/で~
Below it's a video about how to use the “te-form” to create various expressions.
Secondly, we will learn how to offer somebody your help by using ~ましょうか(let me do...). And use “から” to give reasons.
Thirdly, of course we will learn more kanji and new vocabulary.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of chapter 6 you should be able to:
- Recognize the importance of the てte-form in Japanese language.
- Identify where to use てte-form in a sentence and how to create various expressions in a culturally appropriate manner in Japanese.
- Recognize the importance of theから kara in Japanese language and identify where to use the からkara in a sentence.
- Recognize the importance of the ~ましょうかmashyoka-form in Japanese language and identify where to use ましょうかmashyoka-form in a sentence.
- Identify fifteen more kanji characters and be able to use them in writing, and memorize the new vocabulary.
