Welcome to Japan 402 Class                              

Hello everyone. 

I’m Tanyi Zheng-Dobbs, your Japan 402 instructor. はじめまして, よろしくおねがいします。I'm very happy to have you all here. We will have our class via ConferZoom, I call it Zoom Classズームクラス, a learning platform that I hope all of you will like. 

I just want to make sure you know that the prerequisite for Japan 402 is Japan 401 with a grade of “C” or better. Before our class starts, I highly recommend you to read through the" Orientation--Getting Started" carefully, and make sure that you understand everything. 

This is a 16 week course. Our class will start on the 24th. We will meet in this Zoom Classズームクラス  on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 6:35 pm.

What Equipment You Need to Begin 

Because we'll have our class via Zoom , you'll need equipment that is necessary to succeed:

  • Computer
  • Mic/headset
  • Webcam

How to logging into the Zoom 

I have provided a ConferZoom link in the Canvas, you can just  simply click on the link to join your class meeting. Just in case you have trouble logging into our Zoom, please call me at this number 916-841-9028, or text me.

Important information

Before joining a Zoom meeting on a computer or mobile device, you need to download the Zoom app from the Zoom Download Center Otherwise, you will be prompted to download and install Zoom when you click a join link.

You can also join a test meeting to familiarize yourself with Zoom.

  Chapter ８ Introduction and Outcomes Welcome to Chapter 8!  Introduction First, I would like to  introduce you to a new paradigm of conjugation called the “Short Forms"  Our focus will be on: Verb Short Forms (present tense), affirmative and negative.（食べる→食べない；よむ→よまない；くる→こない；する→しない） Adjectives and noun Short Forms (present tense), affirmative and negative. （かわいい→かわいくない；しずかだ→しずかじゃない；学生だ→学生じゃない） How to use Short Forms to make : casual conversations.
