Chapter 9 Introduction and Outcomes
Welcome to Chapter 9!
Introduction
First our focus will be on:
- Verb past tense short forms affirmative and negative.(食べた→食べなかった;よんだ→よまなかった).
- Adjectives and noun past tense short forms, affirmative and negative. (かわいかった→かわいくなかった;しずかだった→しずかじゃなかった;学生だった→学生じゃなかった)
Use past tense short forms to make :
- informal speech (さかなを食べた。)
- quoted speech (“I think that…,~と思います;” “She said…~と言っていました”)
Secondly, we'll learn how to use ”から” to give reasons and how to use verbs qualifying nouns. Also, how to use まだ+verbていません(I haven't done...yet.)
Thirdly, we'll learn more vocabulary and kanji.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of chapter 9 you should be able to:
- Expressing past thoughts and opinions
- Reported speech
- Ordering food in a restaurant or shop
- Giving reasons
- Identify more kanji characters and be able to use them in writing, and memorize the new vocabulary.
